The CORS policy pairs a wildcard origin with credentials
What this check looks for
The response says every website is allowed, and also that cookies should be sent. Browsers refuse that combination, so the cross-origin request fails and nothing is shared.
Why it matters
Nothing is exposed by this — but nothing works either, and that is the danger. The policy was written and never tested against a browser, and the change people reach for when they find it broken is to echo the caller's origin instead, which is the single worst CORS misconfiguration there is.

How to fix it
Decide which of the two you meant, and configure that one properly.
Browsers reject the pair, so the credentialed access you asked for is not working at all.
If the endpoint is public and needs no cookies: drop
Access-Control-Allow-Credentialsentirely and keepAccess-Control-Allow-Origin: *.If it genuinely needs credentials: keep them, and replace the wildcard with a fixed allow-list of the exact origins that may use it.
Do not resolve this by echoing the request's
Originheader back — that is what makes it exploitable rather than merely broken. Compare against a fixed set and return the matched value.Add

Never build the set from a request value, an environment variable that is not reviewed, or a substring/endsWithtest —https://app.example.com.attacker.exampleends with nothing useful but starts with everything an attacker needs.Treat this as a sketch of the approach rather than a copy-paste: the exact expression and the dynamic-value syntax differ between Cloudflare plans, and a static-value rule can only serve one origin. A Transform Rule also runs at Cloudflare's edge, so an origin that is reachable directly — by IP, or through a DNS record that is not proxied — still serves the policy measured here. Setting the allow-list at the origin covers both paths and is what we recommend.
Technical detail
The response to ‹origin› carried Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * together with Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true. ‹detail›
The Fetch Standard's CORS check rejects this outright: when a request's credentials mode is include, the wildcard is not an acceptable value for Access-Control-Allow-Origin, and the browser fails the request and logs an error to the console. So the state today is that credentialed cross-origin calls to this endpoint do not work at all, and uncredentialed ones work through the wildcard.
Read it as evidence rather than as a vulnerability. Someone wanted credentialed cross-origin access, wrote the two headers that name the two things they wanted, and shipped without a browser ever exercising the path. The next step in that story is almost always to make the wildcard dynamic by echoing Origin — which does make the browser happy and is exactly web.cors.origin-reflected-with-credentials.
